This Is Us Season finale

My family is a huge fan of the new tv show This Is Us.  I have bawled my eyes out every single episode!! I love it!! One of  my very favorite shows of all time!  I am so not looking forward to tomorrow night's season finale.  I have a feeling it is going to be rough!  Kleenex will need to be accessible for all watching.   Wonder how many people will call in sick for work on Wednesday?  What will all of us big fans do when this season is over?  Thank goodness for OnDemand, huh?  I see some marathon watching in my future.  Let me know how you are going to deal with no more This Is Us til next season.

I will be back Wednesday with thoughts about the finale episode.   Hope everyone has a great day!

Strawberry cake

This week was my husband's birthday.  His favorite cake is homemade strawberry, his mom used to always cook it for him.  So, I started searching for a good but semi easy recipe for me to make.  I'm really  not the pro at desserts from scratch! Pinterest is the best thing since sliced bread when it comes to recipes.  Or really anything else!  I love it!!!

I found a strawberry cake recipe from Passionate Penny Pincher on Pinterest.  Here is the link to the recipe https://www.pinterest.com/pin/163044448989546430/  .  I was going to make it a layered cake( I think those are so much prettier) but when I finally found my round pans, they were different sizes.  That tells you how often I bake layered cakes.  Haha!  So, it was decided,  sheet cake it is.

This was so easy to make and so so good!  My husband loved it!  To me, I loved the fresh strawberries in the cake batter and the icing.  I got so excited about it, I almost forgot to take pictures!    This is just a few of the ingredients, when I remember to take the picture lol.

Of course, my finished product doesn't look near as pretty as the original  but hey, it sure tasted fabulous!

My return as a stay at home mom

For the past 1 1/2 years I have been working full time outside the home.  That was the longest year and half ever!  I missed being home with my kids!  It is so easy to take that precious time for granted.

For a little back ground,  my daughter, Claudia, is in 4th grade.  My son, Cameron, is a sophomore in college and he was working about 30 hours a week also.  I hardly ever saw Cameron except late at night.  I missed picking Claudia up from school, having school lunch with her, going to school parties, etc......so much going on it seems.

Before getting back in the work force, I had been home for 11 years after leaving my banking career of about 15 years.  In that time I started substitute teaching, which I loved! If that is something that  possibly interests you moms or dads, I say Go for it!!!  You get a whole new perspective of how everything works, get to know the teachers and the precious students.

During the time I was working, I had thought about starting a blog to basically document my ideas of saving money, organization, crafts, family activities, thriftiness, and plain 'ole having FUN!!

Thanks for taking the time to read my post.  Please let me  know if you have a subject in mind for me to write about or just comment to let me know you are here.  I'm so excited about this new journey!  This will be so much fun!
